ARABLE LAND ON ALL PORTIONS: 730 ha

DRY LAND: 571 ha
Potatoes, maize, soybeans, wheat and oats are cultivated.
Soil is of a high standard sandy loam (Avalon, Westleigh and Glencoe) type with a clay content of around 12-15% which is ideal for the growing of cash crops.
Depth varies according to the topography with an average of around 600mm-800 mm.
The sowing lands in the immediate vicinity are rated a type "A" with a long-term average yield of 5,0 - 6,0 tons/ha on maize and 2,5 tons/ha on wheat which are above average.
These arable lands have been grid-sampled and lime has been applied as per recommendation. The dry lands are generally well maintained with contouring, directional tilling and watershed, which appear adequate against soil erosion.

Maize, wheat and potatoes are planted under center pivot irrigation.
Long term yields of around 12-14 tons of maize/ha under irrigation and 6-7 tons of wheat/ha.

GRAZING ON ALL PORTIONS: 1150 ha
This area is known for its fairly undulating landscape, but with large plateau areas with large marsh land sections that provide above average carrying capacity.
The grazing is well managed and the coverage is good with very little erosion visible, despite the high rainfall in the area.
The carrying capacity is as 3-4 ha/LSU on natural grazing.
The area is of a mixed veld type comprising predominantly of sour veld grassland with a very high mix of sweeter grasses, such as "Red grass" and "Eragrostis cultivars.

APPLES
14 ha Apple orchard in full production, established on the farm over the past 27 years.
Cultivars: Royal Gala, Pink Lady, Top Red.
All trees are planted under shaded nets at a density of 1600 -1700 trees per hectare.
Some of the shaded nets are due to be replaced.
